Orioles option Tyler Wilson (with notes)

The Orioles have optioned pitcher Tyler Wilson to Triple-A Norfolk, as expected, to make room for starter Kevin Gausman on the 25-man roster.

Wilson was recalled yesterday and didn't get into last night's game.

Zach Britton recorded his 60th career save last night to tie Dick Hall for eighth place on the Orioles' all-time list. Britton has surrendered two earned runs over his last 20 appearances dating back to May 17, walking four and striking out 22.

Chris Davis is batting .341/.413/.683 during an 11-game hitting streak.

Jimmy Paredes is batting .438/.486/.813 (14-for-32) with three home runs and eight RBIs in his last nine games.

Manny Machado's 12-game hitting streak ended last night.

Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo has homered in three straight games for the second time in his career.

Norfolk outfielder Dariel Alvarez has been elected to start in the Triple-A All-Star Game. Catcher Steve Clevenger and pitchers Michael Bowden and Oliver Drake were selected as reserves.

The International League All-Stars will play the Pacific Coast League's All-Stars on July 15 in Omaha.

The Orioles will wear special patriotic jerseys and caps during Saturday's 2:10 p.m. game against the White Sox at U.S. Cellular Field. The uniform will include a Baltimore gray road jersey with a stars pattern within the twill and an American flag patch on the right sleeve. The blue road caps will feature an American flag design and the Orioles cartoon bird logo.

Game-worn jerseys and caps will be autographed, authenticated and auctioned on www.orioles.com/auction to benefit the Orioles Charitable Foundation beginning Saturday at 2 p.m. and ending July 11 at 10 p.m.

The 6th Annual Casey Cares 5K takes place on Saturday, Aug. 1 at Camden Yards in partnership with OriolesREACH. Proceeds of the event benefit the Casey Cares Foundation, which provides uplifting and ongoing programs with a special touch to critically ill children and their families.

The 3.1 mile run/walk begins and ends at Camden Yards with an on-field finish and includes post-race refreshments. Early registrants will receive a race T-shirt. Race winners in each age group will be announced in a pre-game ceremony at the game. Event sponsors include CBS Radio and MASN.

Registration for the race continues until the day of the race. Entry fees are $35 per person until July 31 and $40 on race day. To register, visit www.caseycares5k.org.

Orioles reliever Brian Matusz continues to make appearances on behalf of Casey Cares.

"I've been fortunate enough to be involved with Casey Cares the last five years or so and it's just such a great program for these kids," Matusz said. "It's a great opportunity for them to get out of the house and come to the park and be able to step away from the treatments and the things that they're going through.

"I've been doing hospital visits for the last few years now. Just to be able to go in and bring them some shirts, bring them some Orioles items and things like that and see the smiles on these kids faces, to spend time with them. And not only the kids, but their parents and families, as well. It's such a great program and I feel fortunate to be involved with it.

"Obviously, I encourage everyone to come out. It's a great cause and a great thing for these kids. Money goes directly to them and it's going to be a fun event."

Matusz has replaced former Oriole Nick Markakis as race ambassador.

"Nick has been the ambassador in years past and I've always been involved in Casey Cares doing hospital visits and things like that, things here at the park. But I'm excited to be the ambassador and take over for Nick," Matusz said.

"I've got to be up early, but that's OK. I'll make that sacrifice for this."
