Orioles recent record with Boston is solid

Okay, I know how rough the last few weeks of Orioles baseball have been. But I have found a positive stat that may surprise you. The Orioles actually have a winning record in their last 21 games against Boston, going 11-10. They are 2-3 this year against the Sox and went 9-9 last year. They lost the first two games with Boston then but are 11-10 since. Before this 21-game stretch however, the Orioles lost 25 of the previous 28 games versus Boston. Here are a couple of other stats as the teams play game two of this series tonight: * The Orioles did not allow 10 or more runs in their first 37 road games this year before allowing 10 or more in three of the last four road games. They have allowed 10 or more hits in 18 of their 41 road games and are 1-17 in those contests and the Orioles have allowed 70 hits in the last five games. * During a four-game losing streak, O's pitching has allowed 40 runs, 37 earned and has an ERA of 10.41 in that stretch raising the team ERA on the year from 4.41 to 4.66. * During this stretch of 18 losses in the last 24 games, the O's team ERA is 5.97, they have made 19 errors and are batting just .182 with runners in scoring position. * The Orioles are 1-6 on this road trip and are batting just .111 (5-for-45) with runners in scoring position on this trip. * Boston went 11-15 in April and is 41-20 since. They have won seven of their last eight games and are 21-10 this year against the American League East. * The Orioles are the only team in baseball to have 10 or more home runs by their shortstop and third baseman. Mark Reynolds (20), J.J. Hardy (13) and Robert Andino (1) have combined for 34 homers, which is more than the Orioles' shortstops and third basemen from each of the last four seasons (17 in 2010, 18 in 2009 and 29 in 2008) Oriole third basemen and shortstops combined for 35 longballs in 2007.
