Orioles release Wesley Wright

NEW YORK - The Orioles have released left-handed reliever Wesley Wright, who was designated for assignment last week.

Wesley Wright Opening Day.pngWright made only two appearances in April before going on the disabled list with a strained left trapezius. He allowed one run and two hits in 1 2/3 innings.

Wright was transferred to the 60-day disabled list and surrendered 10 earned runs (11 total) and 15 hits in 11 2/3 innings on his injury rehab assignment at Triple-A Norfolk. He walked seven batters (two intentionally) and struck out five.

The Orioles signed Wright to a one-year, $1.7 million contract in December. They designated him for assignment on July 14.
