Orioles to Hold Fan Appreciation Weekend October 1- October 3 at Camden Yards

The Orioles will hold their annual Fan Appreciation Weekend during their last homestand of the 2010 season when they host the Detroit Tigers for four games, today through Sunday, October 3. The club has planned events throughout the weekend to give back to their fans. * Each game of the series, nine fans will be randomly selected to take the field and stand with an Orioles player during the National Anthem, with Junior Orioles Dugout Club Members being selected for this event on Sunday. * The club will also choose a fan before the bottom of the 5th inning as the 'Fan of the Game' during each game of the series. The winning fan will receive an 'Ultimate Orioles Prize Pack', featuring a pair of 2011 Opening Day tickets, an Orioles Batting Practice visit, Orioles autographed memorabilia and Orioles giveaway items. * The Orioles will hold a silent auction during each game of the series on the main concourse at Gate D, beginning when gates to the park open. The auction will last until 8:30 p.m. Thursday-Saturday and until 3:00 p.m. on Sunday. It will feature sports memorabilia, collectibles and unique experience packages. The auction will benefit the Baltimore Orioles Charitable Foundation. * During each game of the series the Orioles will have locations set up where fans can make a donation to the Orioles Charitable Foundation and receive a grab bag in exchange. The locations will be at the Eutaw Street Sales Tent, Community Booth, Club Level Concierge and Upper Deck Fan Assistance. Inside each grab bag, fans will have the opportunity to win either a baseball autographed by a current or former Orioles player, or the opportunity to go on the field following Sunday's game to receive a 'shirt off the back' of a current Orioles player. The 'Shirts Off Our Backs' ceremony will immediately follow the 1:35 p.m. game on Sunday, when each winner will be presented with a game-worn and autographed jersey of an Orioles player. IN THE COMMUNITY JOSH BELL APPEARANCE AT WENDY'S On Saturday, October 2, 3B JOSH BELL will greet fans and sign autographs at the Washington Blvd. Wendy's from noon to 1:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The Wendy's is located at 3620 Washington Blvd. in Baltimore. AT THE BALLPARK CHICK-FIL-A CHECK PRESENTATION In a special pre-game ceremony today, the Orioles will welcome representatives from Chick-fil-A, who will present a check for over $24,000 to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Chick-fil-A and the JDRF raised money at Camden Yards during the first half of the season at a table on Eutaw St. where $4 of every kit sold was donated to the JDRF. The JDRF will be represented at the ceremony by 7 year old Noah Forster. Noah was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 2 and has worked at 11 Orioles games this season to help raise money for diabetes research. This is the 5th year the Orioles, Chick-fil-A and the JDRF have worked together to raise money to help find a cure for diabetes. "SWINGS FOR SCHOLARS" This season, Legg Mason teamed with Orioles OF Nick Markakis in the "Swings for Scholars" program, in which Legg Mason donated $100 for each Markakis hit this season toward community college scholarships for at-risk Baltimore City Public School students who otherwise might not have such an opportunity. Legg Mason seeded the fund with $25,000 on Opening Day, and with four games to play, Markakis' 180 hits have raised it to $43,000. YEARDLEY LOVE FUNDRAISER GROUP During today's games, the Orioles will host the One Love Foundation at a booth on Eutaw St. The One Love Foundation was created in memory of Yeardley Love, the Notre Dame Prep School graduate and University of Virginia lacrosse player who was murdered earlier this year. The foundation is raising money to fund a turf field at Notre Dame in honor of Love. More information on the foundation can be found at www.joinonelove.org. APX ALARM CHECK PRESENTATION On Sunday, October 3, before the Orioles' game with the Tigers, APX Alarm VP of Sales and Service Josh Houser will present a check for $10,000 to the Orioles Charitable Foundation. APX Alarm teamed with Orioles RHP JEREMY GUTHRIE in their first MLB sponsorship campaign in 2010, agreeing to donate $100 for each home security sale made in their Orioles campaign. TRICK-O-TREAT AT CAMDEN YARDS FOR DUGOUT CLUB MEMBERS On Sunday, October 3, the final game of the 2010 season, the Orioles encourage all Junior Orioles Dugout Club members to wear either a Halloween costume or their favorite orange and black outfit for a chance to be randomly selected to win prizes throughout the day. The Orioles are also asking kids to bring their own Trick-O-Treat bag or bucket, as there will be stations set up throughout the ballpark where they can collect goodies and candy. PURCHASE THE 2011 ORIOLES PET CALENDAR Back by popular demand, the Orioles have announced that their 2011 Pet Calendars, presented by Southwest Airlines, are now on sale. Inside, fans will find 12 months of Orioles players posing with their own pets, as well as Maryland SPCA dogs. All dogs from the Maryland SPCA pictured in the calendar are available for adoption. Proceeds will benefit the Maryland SPCA and their work with local homeless pets. Fans can purchase the calendars at Oriole Park at the Eutaw Street Tent or Community Booth near Gate D, at the Orioles Official Team Stores located in the Warehouse and in York, PA or online at www.orioles.com. Calendars are $15 each. Last year's calendar sold out, so fans should act quickly to get their copy. PURCHASE GAME-USED BASEBALLS The Orioles will sell game-used baseballs at the OriolesREACH Community Booth located just inside Gate D at Camden Yards at each game this homestand. Sales begin in the top of the 6th inning and continue until the end of the game. Balls that saw action in that day's game are $50 each. Baseballs that were used from Opening Day through the team's most recent home game are on sale for $30 on a first-come, first-served basis. All proceeds from the sale of these baseballs benefit the Baltimore Orioles Charitable Foundation. STEAL SECOND BASE PRESENTED BY ESSKAY The Orioles feature the Steal Second Base contest for every Sunday home game this season. Presented by ESSKAY, the Steal Second Base contest allows a young fan to participate in a timed race from the grounds crew area in center field to retrieve second base. As part of Fan Appreciation Weekend, the Orioles will hold the contest each day of the series this weekend. The Orioles will randomly select fans who will not only have the opportunity to participate in the normal Steal Second Base contest, but will also receive an Orioles jersey and win a game-used base.
