Orioles vs. Yankees: the stats (updated, O's win)

Heading into this weekend's games, the Orioles are just 1-9 on the year against New York. The stats, to no surprise, are pretty one-sided as well. The Yankees have a team batting average of .318 and have recorded 28 doubles, five triples, 15 homers and scored 82 runs against O's pitching in the season series. The Orioles ERA against New York is 6.46 while the Yankees staff has an ERA of 2.73 against the Birds. The Orioles are batting just .231 in those 10 games with 18 doubles, no triples and nine homers and have scored 30 runs. Despite the super year he is having, O's shortstop J.J. Hardy is 0-for-28 on the season against New York pitching in 2011. He is batting .295 against everyone else. How some other O's hitters have fared this year against NY: Guerrero: 15-for-42 with a homer and five RBIs. Jones: 12-for-38 with a homer and four RBIs. Reynolds: 8-for-39 with three homers, eight RBIs and 14 strikeouts. Andino: 6-for-26 with no homers or RBIs. Markakis: 12-for-41 with one homer and three RBIs. Reimold: 1-for-9 with no homers or RBIs. Wieters: 6-for-28 with one homer and two RBIs. A win tonight and the Orioles would match their season-best, five-game win streak. They won five in a row against Washington (two wins) and K.C. (three wins) from May 21 to May 26. A note from the minors: Saturday's scheduled game between the short-season Single-A Aberdeen IronBirds and the Staten Island Yankees will begin at noon. The game was originally scheduled to start at 7:05 p.m., but with Hurricane Irene looming, the IronBirds have decided to push up first pitch time by seven hours. In addition, Sunday's scheduled game at Staten Island has been postponed. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader Monday night at Richmond County Bank Ballpark. First pitch is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.. Update: It was not my intention to make this the "reverse lock blog" by posting all those stats, but they have been reversed, at least so far tonight. The Orioles lead 6-0 in the fourth. Mark Reynolds has hit his 30th homer of the year and the Orioles scored six runs in the second inning off A.J. Burnett, a pitcher who allowed seven runs twice in his last four starts before tonight. Final update, Orioles win: The Orioles beat the Yankees 12-5 Friday night to run their win streak to five games and that ties their season best. They have out-scored their opponents, 36-9 during the streak. Mark Reynolds, J.J. Hardy and Matt Wieters homered as the Orioles tied their season-high for runs in a game in beating the Yankees for just the second time in 11 games on the year.
