Orioles won't be no-hit (and they won't win)

It was getting pretty dicey there. Adam Jones bounced a single into center field with one out in the top of the seventh inning to break up Jair Jurrjens' no-hit bid. The ball took a few hops, but I swear that I counted 17. Maybe it just looked that way. Jurrjens still has his shutout intact, however. The Orioles are losing, 2-0. Jurrjens had a perfect game until Mark Reynolds walked in the sixth.

Say what you want about Reynolds, but he does hit home runs and he does get on base. Otherwise, take your hacks. Jeremy Guthrie took a one-hit shutout into the bottom of the sixth before Jason Heyward hit his first home run since April 29. His two-run shot has accounted for all of the scoring. Meanwhile, I cut short my night of dinner and drinks so I could race back home and write about a potential no-hitter - which ended as I plopped down on my couch and turned on my laptop. Quite the life I've carved out for myself here. Update: The Braves scored twice in the eighth after Guthrie left the game. Pedro Viola, recalled earlier today, let both inherited runners score. One of the four runs off Guthrie was unearned after Derrek Lee's throwing error. Final score: Braves 4, Orioles 0. Jones' hit was the only one off Jurrjens. The only other baserunner was Reynolds, who walked in the sixth. That's it. But at least the Orioles' rotation produced a quality start - the second in 14 games.
