Orioles and Mariners Game 1 lineups

The Orioles brought up reliever Cole Sulser from their secondary training site to serve today as the 27th man in the doubleheader against the Mariners at Camden Yards that closes out the first homestand.

Sulser was optioned to make room for reliever Shawn Armstrong on the active roster. He threw two scoreless innings with three strikeouts in his only appearance.

The switch in opposing starters for the opener returns Trey Mancini to the lineup. He was excluded yesterday before the postponement.

Mancini is batting cleanup, one spot below Maikel Franco.

Ryan McKenna is in right field and Anthony Santander is the designated hitter. Ryan Mountcastle is in left and Ramón Urías stays at second base.

Cedric Mullins brings a 15-game hitting streak into the doubleheader dating back to last September. His 11-game streak to begin the season is the longest by an Orioles player since Manny Machado (16) in 2016. The club record is 17 by Davey Johnson in 1971.

Mullins recorded 18 hits in the Orioles' first 10 games of the season, tied for third-most in team history with Brian Roberts (2005, 2009) and Adam Jones (2013). Eddie Murray had 22 in 1982 and Javy López collected 19 in 2004.

More Mullins: He's 7-for-15 against left-handers this season.

Matt Harvey is starting Game 1. He's allowed six runs and 13 hits in 9 2/3 innings in his two appearances. He's walked two batters and struck out nine.

Harvey made his only career start against the Mariners on July 13, 2019 and allowed one run in 5 2/3 innings.

Left-hander Bruce Zimmermann starts the second game. He's gone six innings in both outings this month and allowed six runs and 11 hits, with two walks and nine strikeouts.

Mariners left-hander Marco Gonzales, the Cardinals' first-round pick in 2013 out of Gonzaga University, has surrendered 12 runs and 17 hits with five home runs in 10 1/3 innings. He's also walked five batters.

The five home runs lead the majors.

Gonzales has made three career starts against the Orioles and gone 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA and 1.636 WHIP in 14 2/3 innings. He's allowed seven runs and 11 hits in 10 1/3 innings in his two starts at Camden Yards.

Right-hander Justin Dunn, a first-round pick of the Mets in 2016 out of Boston College who was included in the Robinson Canó trade, faced the White Sox in his first start and allowed three runs with one hit and eight walks in 4 2/3 innings.

In 10 starts last summer, Dunn registered a 4.34 ERA and 1.358 WHIP, and averaged 6.1 walks per nine innings. He averaged 12.2 walks in his four starts in 2019.

Right-handed hitters slash .175/.269/.320 against Dunn and left-handers slash .170/.397/.404.

Dunn has never faced the Orioles. He was supposed to do it yesterday before the postponement.

The Orioles are doing some early infield work.

The Orioles are listing Jorge López, TBD and John Means as starters this weekend in Texas. Dean Kremer would be working on short rest if kept in his spot. Manager Brandon Hyde is keeping Means on his regular turn.

The Rangers are starting right-handers Mike Foltynewicz, Dane Dunning and Kyle Gibson.
