Bud Norris will be working on seven days rest when he makes his Orioles debut tonight against his former team, the Houston Astros, at Camden Yards. Norris is 2-8 with a 5.36 ERA in 15 career starts with six-plus days of rest. Bud Norris will be the 14th pitcher to start for the Orioles this season. There have been only three others with more than 14, topping out at 19 in 1955. Henry Urrutia is serving as the designated hitter tonight. The announcement was made at a press conference Cal Ripken Jr. held at the Sports Legends Museum in partnership with the Aberdeen Police Department and the Baltimore Division of the FBI. Ripken Baseball, the Orioles, the Ravens and Under Armour have come together in this effort. "“My mother, brothers and sister are very appreciative and grateful for the support we have received from our community," Cal Ripken Jr. said in a statement. "The fact the Orioles, Ravens and Under Armour want to help us find this person demonstrates this isn'’t just about our mom but about our community as a whole. We hope this renewed effort will bring this individual to justice and make all of us that much safer." On the morning of July 24, 2012, Vi Ripken was abducted at gunpoint from her home in Aberdeen and held captive for 24 hours, driven by the abductor across state lines in her vehicle before being returned to her home early the following morning. Despite eyewitness sightings of the subject, as well as video surveillance, no arrests have been made in the case.
