Orioles release 2015 spring training schedule

NEW YORK - We interrupt your obsession with October baseball to bring you the Orioles' 2015 spring training schedule. The Orioles' first Grapefruit League game is March 3 against the Tigers in Lakeland. The home opener at Ed Smith Stadium is March 4 against the Tigers. The Orioles will face 10 different teams as part of their 16-game home schedule. They will host the Rays and Blue Jays three times each and the Twins and Pirates twice. They will play the Braves, Red Sox, Tigers, Yankees, Phillies and Cardinals once each in Sarasota. In addition, the Orioles will play 18 games on the road, including three trips to Dunedin to face the Jays and four to Fort Myers - three to face the Twins and one against the Red Sox. Three trips to Dunedin? Where do I sign up? The Orioles make two stops in Orlando to play the Braves, two in Bradenton to play the Pirates - the shortest trip on the schedule - two to Port Charlotte to play the Rays and two to Lakeland to play the Tigers. Lakeland and Orlando had dropped off the schedule, but they're back in 2015. The Orioles also make one trip each to Jupiter (Cardinals), Clearwater (Phillies) and Tampa (Yankees). Only one road game against the Red Sox? That's also a switch. Players will adapt by changing clothes in a phone booth before heading to the replica Fenway Park. A trip to Jupiter puts me dangerously close to Fort Lauderdale. Just saying... Fans interested in season plans, or those wishing to receive additional spring training ticket information, are encouraged to call the Orioles spring training office in Sarasota at 941-893-6300. Fans interested in additional information on suite rentals or pregame party facilities should call 941-893-6348. Single game tickets for all 16 games at Ed Smith Stadium will go on sale Jan. 24, 2015. The 2015 season will mark the sixth consecutive spring training for the Orioles in Sarasota, and the fifth in the renovated Ed Smith Stadium.
