O's game blog: It's Jimenez against Miley in series opener

The Orioles homestand continues tonight as they host the Seattle Mariners to start a three-game series. The Orioles lead the American League East by percentage points and Seattle leads the AL West in the same manner.

The 23-13 Orioles are playing .639 ball (best in the AL) and are just ahead of Boston at .632. Seattle is 21-16 and playing .568 ball, just ahead of Texas at .564 in the AL West.

The Orioles are 3-1 on this homestand and 16-6 at home in 2016. Meanwhile, Seattle is 13-6 on the road. That marks the club's third-best road start in franchise history through 19 games. The Mariners have the highest road winning percentage (.684) in the majors.

Seattle just got swept three straight by the Angels before traveling to Baltimore on Monday. Even with those losses, they are 19-10 their last 29 games. The Mariners are 5-1 against AL East teams, going 2-1 against the Yankees and 3-0 versus the Rays.

Seattle's Robinson Cano is a career .362 hitter (122-for-337) with 67 runs scored, 27 doubles, 15 home runs and 44 RBIs in 82 career games at Oriole Park. In stadiums in which he has played at least 20 games, Cano's .362 average and .988 OPS at OPACY is the highest of any venue.

Dating back to Aug. 28, 2014, former Oriole Nelson Cruz has reached base safely in 21 straight games at Camden Yards. During that stretch he has hit .367 (29-for-79) with eight doubles, four home runs and 13 RBIs.

On the mound tonight, Ubaldo Jimenez (2-3, 4.87 ERA) pitches against left-hander Wade Miley (3-2, 4.91 ERA).

Jimenez has allowed four or more runs twice in his last three starts with an ERA of 6.11 in that span. Jimenez has three quality starts and the Orioles are 4-3 in his outings this season. In five career starts versus the Mariners, he is 2-1 with a 4.02 ERA.

Miley has allowed an average of .216 against left-handed batters and .290 versus righty hitters. He is 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA in four road starts. In three career starts against Baltimore, he is 0-2 with a 10.13 ERA, allowing 21 hits in 13 1/3 innings
