Patton gives up home run, Casilla states case for more starts (O's lead 4-3)

We're no longer tied. Troy Patton entered the game in the top of the seventh, and the first batter he faced, first baseman Lyle Overbay, belted a home run to give the Yankees a 3-2 lead. The Yankees have four hits tonight. Three are home runs. Meanwhile, Alexi Casilla is making a strong argument for receiving more starts at second base. Casilla is in the Orioles' lineup because of his career numbers against Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia, though he's 0-for-2 tonight. But one night after Yamaico Navarro committed an error at second and failed to make another play, Casilla has turned in two web gems. Casilla made a diving stop in shallow right field of Curtis Granderson's ground ball and threw from his knees to end the fourth inning. And he started a spectacular double play in the sixth by fielding a hard smash from Travis Hafner that almost knocked him over. Casilla could have taken the easy out at first base after back-to-back one-out walks by Freddy Garcia, but he fired the ball to J.J. Hardy at second base. Hardy held his ground and make a nice throw to first to complete the DP and bail out Garcia. Patton replaced Garcia, who threw 66 pitches (42 strikes) in six innings. Garcia allowed two runs and three hits, walked two, struck out two and served up two home runs that accounted for all the scoring. Orioles starters have exceeded five innings in back-to-back games. Per ESPN Stats & Info: Casilla entered today with the third-most Defensive Runs Saved in the majors at second base since the start of the 2012 season. First base umpire Eric Cooper blew two calls in the sixth, both of them going against the Orioles. Catcher Matt Wieters picked off Brett Gardner at first base, but Cooper missed it. And Wieters beat out a slow bouncer to third baseman David Adams, but Cooper missed it. Chris Davis led off the inning with a single, and Wieters appeared to reach safely. He was visibly upset with the call, and manager Buck Showalter raced out of the dugout to take up the argument. Showalter didn't get ejected, but he sure got his money's worth. Not sure I've seen him that angry all season. Update: We're no longer tied - because the Orioles have taken a 4-3 lead in the seventh. Casilla singled off Sabathia to lead off the inning, making him 15-for-27 lifetime against the veteran lefty. He scored all the way from first base on Nick Markakis' double into left-center field to tie the game 3-3. Casilla has tremendous speed, and it showed on that play. Manny Machado grounded out, making him 0-for-4, but J.J. Hardy doubled to right field to give the Orioles a 4-3 lead and knock Sabathia out of the game. Hardy is 2-for-4 tonight and 11-for-32 with six RBIs against Sabathia, who was replaced by Shawn Kelley. Tonight's attendance: 24,133
