SARASOTA, Fla. - Zach Britton, Jake Arrieta, Tommy Hunter, Steve Johnson, Dylan Bundy, T.J. McFarland, Todd Redmond, Zach Clark and Adam Russell will pitch Saturday in the Orioles' exhibition opener against the Minnesota Twins.
As you can tell, each pitcher is scheduled to throw one inning.
Jair Jurrjens, Troy Patton, Mike Belfiore, Kevin Gausman, Mike Wright, Daniel Schlereth and Eduardo Rodriguez will pitch Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays in Dunedin. Manager Buck Showalter will likely insert two other pitchers into the game to give him nine.
Kevin Correia will start Saturday for the Twins, and Mark Buehrle will start Sunday for the Blue Jays.
Brian Roberts will get one or two at-bats Saturday before leaving camp to attend the wedding of one of his best friends.
Roberts won't make the trip to Dunedin, but he will return to the lineup Monday against the New York Yankees in Sarasota.
The Orioles will honor Hall of Fame manager Earl Weaver with a moment of silence and video tribute before Saturday's game. Also, Weaver's uniform No. 4 will be stenciled onto the grass outside of the Orioles' dugout in foul territory.
An orange patch depicting the No. 4 and the words "Earl Weaver" and "Hall of Fame" in black will be worn on the home, road and two alternate in-game jerseys beginning Saturday and throughout the entire 2013 season. Here it is.
Catcher Allan de San Miguel is leaving camp today to play for Australia in the World Baseball Classic, so the Orioles probably will bring over another backstop for Saturday's game. Infielder Jonathan Schoop will leave after Saturday's game to play for The Netherlands.
Schoop will play second base in the WBC.
