Post-game Notes: Wieters and Berken lead O's past Tampa

Comeback win - The O's trailed tonight's game 5-0 after 2 ½ innings. The O's then scored 10 unanswered runs over the next six frames to post a 10-5 win. The O's had 16 hits in the game, five for extra-bases with three doubles and two homers. Rookie Matt Wieters went 3 for 4 with a double, two-run single and three-run homer. Wieters, who entered tonight with just one RBI in his last 13 games, tonight produced a season-best 5 RBI. His previous season high was 4 RBI August 28 vs. Cleveland. Tonight was Wieters' 19th multi-hit game. New doubles record - Brian Roberts, batting third for the third time this season, had three hits including an RBI double in the 3rd. It was his 52nd double, setting a new O's season doubles record, breaking his own mark of 51 set last year. Scott entered tonight with just 4 hits over his last 28 at bats and with just three homers in the second half. Of Scott's 22 homers this year, 14 have been solo shots, he has hit 16 at home and nine have been hit off left-landed pitchers as his homer tonight was. No other Oriole has more than four homers this year vs. lefties. Winning pitcher Jason Berken improved to 5-11, 6.08. After giving up four runs in the first inning, he allowed just one run and three hits after that. Over his last five starts, Berken is 3-0, 4.23. The O's improved to 6-15 in Berken starts. In his next eight starts before this one, he had gone 3-0, 3.11. The six runs he allowed tied his season high and the 11 hits he gave up in 4 1/3 set a new season high. With this win, the Orioles double their victory total vs. Tampa from 2008 when the O's went 3-15. Now the season series is tied at 6-6. The O's are 4-3 in games played in Baltimore. The O's have won five of the last nine games and improve to 35-38 at home, 19-38 vs. the AL East and 5-7 in September. Tampa has now lost 12 of its last 13 games. The Rays are 25-31 since the All-Star break and 2-13 in September.
