Postgame comments from Darren O'Day, Chris Tillman and Adam Jones

Darren O'Day said he threw the right pitch, but it was located in the wrong spot. His 3-1 slider to Coco Crisp in the top of the ninth was hit for a homer to right to break the 1-1 tie as Oakland beat the Orioles 2-1 this afternoon. "He might have been looking for it, but if I put it where it is supposed to be he might get a hit, but he's not going to hit it out," O'Day said. "I'd like to have all of them back (pitches in the ninth). I got behind in the count and he's looking for his pitch. I've got to be ahead in the count. He got what he wanted and he did what he wanted with it." O'Day said it was disappointing to lose to one of the club's the O's are tying to catch for a playoff spot. "It's time to go," he said. "Personally, it's very disappointing for me and the other guys are disappointed, too. We want to win every game, but especially against teams we're fighting with." Chris Tillman gave up just three hits over eight innings and tied his career high with nine strikeouts. But Oakland starter Jarrod Parker was matching him against the O's batters. "Yeah, absolutely. The guy is good," Tillman said of Parker. "He's been pitching his butt off lately and hats off to him. "It was all there for me. Fastball, changeup, curveball mix. I didn't really throw the cutter today. Didn't have a real good feel for it and Wiety (Matt Wieters) knew that coming out of the bullpen." Tillman was trying for the fourth time to become a 15-game winner, but got a no-decision and is 0-1 with three no-decisions and a 2.57 ERA in four outings in search of that 15th win. "No, not worried about that (getting the 15th win)," he said. "More frustrated that today is a loss and I think it's a frustrated clubhouse, but we've got another one tomorrow to try and win the series." Adam Jones talked about Parker's outing for the A's. "He kept us at bay, have to tip your cap to him," Jones said. "Both starters, he and Tillman. He works in and out and uses a good changeup. He kept us off balance. Nothing was really hit hard today on both sides. A well-pitched game on both sides. "Tillman was what he's been for us most of the year. Nothing but praise for him. I told him after the game, it (stinks) we couldn't get him two runs." And the O's drop an important game to the team currently holding the AL's second wild card spot. "These games are important," Jones said. "Our fans they know. You know me, I don't want to give credit to the opponent, but sometimes you tip your cap and move on."
