Postgame comments from Wieters and Arrieta

It is starting to get to the point where Orioles players are having a hard time coming up with adjectives describing what Chris Davis is doing right now. But Matt Wieters admits that the players were thinking homer just like the fans were when Davis came up in the eighth today in a 5-5 tie. "I think everybody was thinking it the way he has been swinging the bat lately," Wieters said. "He's been doing some damage and he's not missing his pitch right now. We're going to try and keep him doing that as long as he can. He's playing a fun game right now. "Opening day is a special day and you always want to get a win when you have a packed house. As great as our fans are, really wanted to get that win today." The Orioles had produced a few comebacks already this year and here was another today as they trailed 4-1 in the fourth and 5-4 in the eighth. "It is our mentality coming out of spring training (that we can comeback). You're playing the game and it doesn't matter what the score is," Wieters said. The Orioles catcher went 2-for-4 today and the 3-4-5 hitters this year are batting .458 with seven doubles, five homers, 19 runs and 22 RBIs. Meanwhile, Jake Arrieta talked about his outing. He allowed five runs in five innings and Minnesota scored four off him in the fourth to take a 4-1 lead. "Started out real strong today," he said. "The damage there in the fourth could have been avoided. I threw a really, really awful executed pitch to (Brian) Dozier and he made me pay for it. Kind of the story of my day. Would have liked to get deeper into the game." A reporter asked him if he gives himself a passing grade today. "You know, because we won, yeah," Arrieta said after his 93-pitch outing. "But there are things I'd like to do better - establish a few more things early in the game and minimize damage, to not let that inning get out of hand like it did. I'll be better next time out."
