Since nothing else seems to be happening today...
First baseman Tyler Townsend and third baseman Ryan Adams have two-run singles today for the Scottsdale Scorpions of the Arizona Fall League. The Scorpions lead the Peoria Saguaros, 7-0, in the sixth inning.
Townsend and Adams singled off right-hander Jeremy Hall, who went 6-9 with a 3.52 ERA in 27 starts for the Double-A Montgomery Biscuits - yes, I want to see the mascot - of the Southern League. The Biscuits are a Tampa Bay affiliate.
Adams started at third base yesterday and replaced Conor Gillaspie in the third inning today. Not sure why he's playing the hot corner after getting regular duty at second base for Double-A Bowie, and at the Single-A level the two previous years.
Shortstop Greg Miclat also has singled today for the Scorpions. Townsend was hit by a pitch in his first at-bat.
Update: Adams finished 3-for-3 with a home run and four RBIs in Scottsdale's 9-1 victory. Miclat went 2-for-4. Wynn Pelzer allowed a hit and struck out one in a scoreless inning.
Adams hit a two-run shot off Jeremy Horst, who went a combined 4-4 with a 2.63 ERA, 18 walks and 75 strikeouts in 72 innings in the Carolina, Southern and International leagues this year. He's a Reds farmhand and former 21st-round pick.
