Chris Davis is making another start at third base today in the instructional league. He's scheduled to play five innings and receive a minimum of four at-bats in a game against the Red Sox in Sarasota.
Davis also started at third base yesterday against the Rays in Port Charlotte. He flied out to right field, lifted a sacrifice fly to right-center, grounded a single into right and struck out.
Davis made his instructional league debut on Friday in Sarasota, collecting an infield hit and a walk in three plate appearances. He exited the game in the fourth inning.
The Orioles traveled to Clearwater the following day and games aren't scheduled on Sunday. Davis returned to the field yesterday.
Davis is serving a 25-game suspension for using Adderall without an exemption. He's eligible to return in the ninth playoff game if the Orioles advance that far.
The Orioles can't add Davis to their roster in the middle of a series. They'd have to play a man down at the beginning.
As one official said earlier today, Davis is getting his at-bats and the Orioles are getting him ready.
Gone but not forgotten. Off the roster but not out of their plans.
