Rays beat O's as the losing streak reaches 12

Looking like a team on an inevitable march toward 100 losses, the O's lost 3-1 Tuesday night at Tampa. The O's have now lost 12 in a row, matching their losing streak of 12 in a row from August 16-28, 2004. At least they couldn't blame the bullpen this time. Tampa got a pair of clutch, two-out hits in the first to take a 2-0 lead. Ben Zobrist had an RBI double and Willy Aybar added an RBI single.

Luke Scott's single scored Brian Roberts in the 3rd to make it a 2-1 game. That was Roberts' 56th double and broke his tie with Lance Berkman for most doubles in one year by a switch-hitter. In the Tampa 7th, Reid Brignac tripled and scored on B.J. Upton's sac fly. The Orioles now have 97 losses, that ties for the fourth most in franchise history. Winning pitcher Wade Davis, who pitched a shutout earlier this month vs. the O's, tonight limited the Birds to one run in seven frames. Jeremy Guthrie, 10-17, took the loss. Over seven innings he allowed seven hits and three runs, throwing 107 pitches. The O's fall to 0-8 on this road trip, 6-19 in September and 60-97 on the season. Balt.....1-9-0 TB......3-8-0
