SARASOTA, Fla. - The Orioles held their first full-squad workout today and it included outfield and infield drills, as well as batting practice on multiple fields.
New infielder Everth Cabrera hit from both sides of the plate and fielded balls hit to him at shortstop. He impressed manager Buck Showalter with his arm.
Third baseman Manny Machado was full-go in bunt and pickoff drills. Chris Davis and Steve Pearce worked out together at first base.
Pitchers warmed up on the mounds next to the media workroom and headed inside the cage to throw to hitters, who were instructed not to swing. It's called "tracking pitches."
Also, Steve Johnson just threw off a mound and said his finger felt good. It looks like he'll be back on a regular schedule.
Cabrera and executive vice president Dan Duquette are scheduled to meet with reporters at 2 p.m., followed by Showalter's daily session with the media.
