Reimold's CT scan negative

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - The best news to come out of today's 3-3 tie reached us after the final out, when manager Buck Showalter informed reporters that Nolan Reimold's CT scan didn't reveal any broken bones in his face. Reimold is bruised and he has a loose tooth. That's apparently the extent of the damage from an Alex Cobb fastball that nailed him on the left side of his face. "The lowlight was Nolan getting hit and the highlight was finding out that he didn't have a break, and I didn't like his chances," Showalter said. "The doctors came over from Sarasota, our guys. And that was the highlight of the day. He has a loose tooth. I was sure he would have lost some teeth. But I'll tell you, he got as much jaw as he got helmet. The sound is one we've all heard at some point and it's not a pleasant sound. I can tell you that. "One of our teammates, one of our players. He's been through a lot. That's all that was going through my head. He's finally going to get a chance to play this year and everything's in order, and all of a sudden you're standing out there with him. Your heart's in your throat." Showalter doesn't know when Reimold will return to the lineup, and that isn't his chief concern. He was just relieved after learning of the results a few innings before the final out. "Right now, we just really feel blessed that we got that news back," he said. "I've been asking Richie (Bancells) about every 10 pitches if he heard anything. You can't much top that today."
