Reimold strikes out in first rehab at-bat tonight at Bowie (updated)

BOWIE, Md. - Well, at least he got to see a few pitches. In his first at-bat tonight beginning his injury rehab assignment for Double-A Bowie, Nolan Reimold struck out against Harrisburg right-hander Paul Demny. Reimold chased a high fastball on a 1-2 count to end the Bowie first. He is batting third as the Baysox designated hitter and is expected to get three at-bats in tonight's game, which is being played in front of a sparse crowd on a cloudy night at Prince George's Stadium. Ty Kelly led off with a popout to short and then Niuman Romero bounced out back to the mound. Reimold said before tonight's game that he was hoping to rejoin the Orioles next Monday when the club comes home from its current road trip. Reimold is batting .188 with four homers and nine RBIs in 31 Orioles games this year and has been out since May 11 with a strained right hamstring. He played in just 16 games last year. This is his first game in Bowie since he hit three homers in an Eastern League playoff game against Akron on Sept. 4, 2008. In the fourth inning: Reimold struck out swinging on an 0-2 pitch from Demny. The Harrisburg right-hander struck out the side in the fourth and the Senators lead 2-0 after four against Eddie Gamboa and the Baysox. In the seventh inning: Reimold worked the count full against Demny and flied out to deep left, making him 0-for-3 in the game. Harrisburg scored four in the sixth off Gamboa and is leading 6-0 over the Baysox, who have been held to one hit through seven innings tonight. That was a single in the second by Caleb Joseph that extended his hitting streak to eight games. Joseph is 1-for-3 tonight and 17-for-31 (.548) during his streak. Oliver Drake is coming in to pitch the eighth for Bowie.
