Reynolds slams one out to left as O's top Toronto 5-3

In his 53rd career at-bat with the bases loaded, Mark Reynolds delivered his first grand slam. His shot to left in the last of the sixth tonight unloaded the bases and gave the Orioles a 5-3 lead. They won by that score over Toronto in front of 20,086 at Camden Yards. It was just the O's seventh win in their last 28 meetings with Toronto. Until the slam, Reynolds was a career .115 hitter with a slugging percentage of .192 with the bases loaded. He was 6-for-52 with four doubles and 26 strikeouts in those situations. Last year with Arizona, he went 0-for-10 with eight strikeouts in bases-loaded at-bats. But this time he hit it out 394 feet to left after singles by Vlad Guerrero, Derrek Lee and Matt Wieters. It was his team-leading eighth homer and he now has 28 RBIs, which ranks second on the team. Lee came off the disabled list today and went 2-for-4 with two singles and two runs scored in his first O's game since May 16. Toronto scored single runs in the first, second and fourth against Jake Arrieta, who still got the win to go to 7-3 with an ERA of 4.93. Arrieta gave up three runs and five hits in six innings. With that seventh win, Arrieta ties Josh Tomlin of Cleveland, Jered Weaver of Los Angeles, Jeremy Hellickson of Tampa and Jon Lester of Boston for the American League wins lead. The Orioles improve to 26-30 and won for just the second time in eight games. They are now 1-1 on this homestand and 16-15 at home on the year. In the series finale on Sunday afternoon, Jeremy Guthrie (2-7, 3.24 ERA) pitches against lefty Jo-Jo Reyes (1-4, 4.15 ERA).
