Manager Buck Showalter was vague when the subject turned to tomorrow's potential call-ups. He said some decisions could hinge on the health of the current roster.
Asked if he could reveal any names, Showalter replied, "No." Then he chuckled.
"I can tell you who's not coming. No, I can't do that, either."
It's fair to speculate that middle infielder Robert Andino, despite the 31 errors, will join the team as a backup to Roberts and Izturis. He isn't on the 40-man roster, but the Orioles aren't concerned about making room.
Andino's 143 hits for Triple-A Norfolk are four behind Gwinnett's Freddie Freeman for the International League lead. His 76 RBIs are tied for sixth. He also has 13 home runs.
Outfielder Nolan Reimold is expected to report tomorrow. Chris Tillman is starting tonight for the Tides, so he should show up later.
Asked about Zach Britton, Showalter replied, "We'll see. He pitched last night. I think Zach gave up one earned run last night, but he wasn't quite as sharp as he's been in the past.
"With outings still going on, the season still going on, the last thing they need to do is be reading about me commenting on who and what and when and how. I'm not saying everything is still up in the air, but there's still some tweaks that could be made to it, depending on what our needs are. We've got elements that show up each day here that affect it, whether it be an infielder with (Roberts) and Lugo or whether a pitcher comes down with something physically that we don't like his ability to pitch a lot of innings. We're going to leave that alone until we have to make that decision, and how we're going to be able to use them.
"I will say this: I don't think the (40-man) roster number of spots is an issue that would keep us from taking somebody."
