Roster move and tonight's lineup

The Orioles have recalled catcher Steve Clevenger from Triple-A Norfolk and designated Ryan Lavarnway for assignment.

As I wrote this morning, Clevenger was hitting .352/.413/.451 (32-for-91) with three doubles, two home runs and 14 RBIs in 27 games with Norfolk this season. He played in 35 games with the Orioles in 2014, batting .225/.289/.337 (20-for-89) with eight doubles, a triple and eight RBI.

Lavarnway batted .107/.219/.143 (3-for-28) with a double and a run scored over 10 games with the Orioles this season. The Orioles selected him off waivers from the Cubs on Dec. 23.

The Orioles wanted Clevenger, a Baltimore native, to focus on his work behind the plate, and he's thrown out 12 of 37 runners attempting to steal with Norfolk.

Shortstop J.J. Hardy returns to the lineup tonight after leaving yesterday's game with back tightness.
