Selik, Fischer make season debuts for Potomac

It wasn't only Sammy Solis who was making his season debut Tuesday for high Single-A Potomac. Right-handers Cameron Selik and David Fischer also pitched for the P-Nats for the first time in 2013. Selik had a good amount of experience with the P-Nats and has been out since a lat injury slowed his play. Selik had 40 games of experience with the P-Nats over the past two seasons, and got into one game with Double-A Harrisburg last season. He had eight saves with 2-1 record and a 3.68 ERA with the P-Nats in 2012. Ob Tuesday, he pitched 1 1/3 innings, allowing three hits, one run, no walks and struck out one batter. Potomac manager Brian Daubach saw a lot of similarities in the return of both Solis and Selik as they worked very hard to get back from various surgeries and injury. "(Cameron) tore a lat last year," Daubach said. "It was a long rehab for him. He looked like himself. Cam was the same as Sammy, a long rehab. Good to see him back out there. We want to win all the games, but to see the velocity was good, you got to get that first one out of the way (and) they will both get better from that." Fischer pitched after Solis left and held his own, hitting the mid-90s mph with the fastball. He pitched 3 2/3 innings, scattering three hits, allowing one run, two walks and striking out two. Fischer arrived from low Single-A Hagerstown, where he had pitched in nine games with a 1-0 record, a 3.65 ERA, three saves and 28 strikeouts to only eight walks. Last season, Fischer appeared in 12 games with eight starts for short-season Single-A Auburn, going 3-3 with a 4.96 ERA.
