Showalter on Norris, Bundy and Old-Timers' Day

NEW YORK - Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Bud Norris could be pushed back to Saturday if the right-hander needs an extra day to recover from a groin injury sustained during yesterday's game against the Yankees. Chris Tillman could start Friday night on normal rest. "There's not the normal discoloration you look for if it's going to be long-term, which is good," Showalter said. "I didn't look." Norris said his groin is still a little sore and he continues to receive treatment. He remains optimistic about starting Game 2 of Friday's doubleheader, but will have a better idea on Monday. Dylan Bundy remains scheduled to make at least one more start with short-season Single-A Aberdeen. In his second outing last night, Bundy allowed two hits, walked one and struck out nine over five scoreless innings. "It was good," Showalter said. "(Fastball) was 92, 94. I loved the command. That's a good indicator. Usually, if your arm's bothering you a little bit, your command is off. That's usually the first thing." Showalter won't reveal Bundy's full schedule in case it needs adjusting later and is interpreted as a setback. Showalter tipped his cap and walked on the field to embrace his former general manager, Gene Michael, and his former minor league manager, Stump Merrill. He also had a chance to visit with Hall of Famer Yogi Berra. "I know how much it means to the fans and baseball in general," Showalter said. "It's an honor to be asked. It's humbling to look at the people out on that field and it's sad to see some that aren't there that have been in the past." Though honored to participate in the event, Showalter added, "We've got some monuments, too." "We don't take a backseat to many people with our history and tradition," Showalter said.
