Batting practice was canceled because of the rain, but it didn't stop Triple-A first baseman Brandon Snyder and left-hander Troy Patton from flying into Boston.
Snyder and Patton have joined the Orioles - according to tweets from The Sun's Peter Schmuck and Jeff Zrebiec, and also confirmed by a team official - and will be activated if first baseman Derrek Lee and infielder Cesar Izturis go on the disabled list. They're in a holding pattern. Again, not because of the weather.
I'm sure you get it.
Snyder is batting .276 with nine doubles, five homers and 16 RBIs in 35 games with Triple-A Norfolk. Patton is 1-0 with a 2.60 ERA in six games (one start), allowing 14 hits, walking five and striking out 15 in 17 1/3 innings.
I'm still waiting for the Orioles lineup.
Brian Roberts recorded his 38th career game with two or more stolen bases last night, moving him past Brady Anderson for the most multi-steal games in Orioles history. It was Roberts' first two-steal game since Aug. 11, 2009.
Luke Scott drew a career-high four walks last night, the first Oriole to do that since Nick Markakis on June 22, 2008 at Milwaukee.
Last night's loss was the Orioles' second of the year when leading after seven (16-2) or eight innings (18-2).
For the Red Sox:

Wakefield, who's taking John Lackey's start, is 16-13 with a 4.13 ERA in 50 career appearances against the Orioles. Guerrero is 12-for-25 with five homers against him.
