*The newest Oriole, Corey Patterson, grounded out in the first in his first at bat. In 14 games with the Tides, he was batting .368-0-2. He was three for six in stealing bases. He began 2 for 16 with Norfolk, but hit .463 in his last ten Tides games. He batted .250 vs. lefty pitching and .400 vs. right handers. *Tonight's Seattle starter, lefty Ryan Rowland-Smith is the only player in Major League history with a hyphenated last name. He was born in Sydney, Australia and pitched for that nation in the 2004 Summer Olympics. He has allowed 11 ER over 10 innings in his last two starts, but is 3-3, 4.95 in 29 games, nine career starts vs. AL East teams. *Over their last three games, the O's have scored just two runs on 18 hits with a team average of .188. The O's are 0-4 vs. Seattle on the year, scoring just five runs with a team average of only .197 in those contests. *For the O's, 16 of the first 33 games have been decided by one or two runs with their record at 6-10 in those contests. *Garrett Atkins RBI last night ended a 14-game RBI drought.......Rhyne Hughes is 4 for 25 since going 5 for 13 in his first three O's games......Miguel Tejada is 1 for 16 over his last four games......Nick Markakis is 2 for 12 since the end of his eight-game batting streak.
