Teagarden seeing back specialist

SARASOTA, Fla. - I wanted to pass along a few items before heading back to the Orioles' clubhouse. I'll pass along quotes later. Catcher Taylor Teagarden is seeing a back specialist in St. Petersburg today to determine whether his MRI reveals any structural damage. So far, surgery is not being discussed. The Orioles are simply trying to determine the source of his discomfort. Brian Roberts took batting practice on the Ed Smith Stadium field in a group that included Matt Wieters and Endy Chavez, and he fielded grounders and made throws from second base. He's obviously feeling much better these days, though manager Buck Showalter wasn't going to read too much into it. Reliever Luis Ayala is dealing with bad allergies here. He can pitch, but he's not feeling well. He's taking shots to alleviate the problem. More cuts are coming Wednesday or Thursday. Minor league catcher Michael Ohlman is taking a conservative approach with his injured right shoulder, attempting to rehab it instead of opting for surgery.
