The Birds pose with pets for 2011 Orioles Pet Calendar

The OriolesREACH 2011 Pet Calendars are officially out. It's the second year in a row that O's players have posed with either their own pets or a loaner canine from the Maryland SPCA for a 12-month calendar shot at Camden Yards. The Orioles, Orioles Wives and OriolesREACH teamed up again to produce the calendar, which benefits the Maryland SPCA. Rich-Hill_Orioles-Pet-Calendar.jpg Just like last year, each month features a different Oriole and a different dog - No, last year's photo of Rich Hill and his cats wasn't included just for fun. (But that doesn't mean we can't include it here just for fun.) This year, the only feline to make an appearance is found with Matt Wieters, the Oriole chosen for June. According to Wieters' page in the calendar, the dog and cats pictured with the O's catcher are his own personal pets and were adopted from shelters. His German Shepherd, Millie, even has an O's bandanna on for the shoot. Fans of Brian Roberts' video blog here on MASNsports.com might recognize his bulldog, Rocky, pictured with B-Rob for the month of August, while Nick Markakis marks the month of September with his Blue Haired Weimeraner, Riley. Other Orioles pictured with their own pets include: Kevin Millwood with his Beagle, Charlie; Ty Wigginton with his Lab, Roxy (wouldn't you have pegged Wiggy as a Lab kind of guy?); Craig Tatum with his Boston Terriers, Catcher and Sasha; Brad Bergesen with his Puggle, Ernie; Jake Arrieta with his Brindle Boxer, Jax (doesn't this pair also seem like a good fit?); and Michael Gonzalez with his Puggles, Deanna and Micha (really, three Puggles on this team?). Jake-Arrieta-with-Dog.jpg And Jake Arrieta takes the cake this year for this fantastic photo of the O's pitcher getting a big wet kiss from his Brindle Boxer. As mentioned above, O's without pets of their own had a dog from the SPCA chosen for them, and the dog chosen for Matt and Tara Albers was such a good fit, they adopted the Shepherd mix named Mazzy from the Maryland SPCA on the day of the photo shoot. All dogs from the Maryland SPCA pictured in the calendar are available for adoption.
