The latest on Yovani Gallardo

Yovani Gallardo threw from 120 feet today in his latest progression as he nears a return to the mound

Orioles manager Buck Showalter said Gallardo's session was encouraging and will be repeated on Thursday before the club boards its flight to Anaheim.

Assuming there are no setbacks from 120 feet, Gallardo will throw his first bullpen session on Sunday in Anaheim and do the same on May 24 in Houston. The Orioles have scheduled a simulated game for Gallardo on May 27 in Cleveland.

Showalter indicated that Gallardo may need only one or two starts on an injury rehab assignment before coming off the disabled list.

Hunter Harvey, recovering from sports hernia surgery, will begin a throwing program on May 24.
