Tillman trying to remain unbeaten on the road (updated)

The Orioles scored six runs for Chris Tillman today. He gave them five-plus innings. Tillman won't pick up his 10th quality start, but he could improve to 6-0 on the road this season. Since Aug. 21, 2012, Tillman has made 12 consecutive starts on the road allowing three runs or fewer. He's charged with three today, the last two scoring after T.J. McFarland entered the game with two runners on base and gave up a double to Matt Tuiasosopo. McFarland has let 10 of 16 inherited runners score this season. Tillman is charged with three runs and seven hits, with three walks and one strikeout. He threw 101 pitches, 61 for strikes. If the bullpen protects his lead, Tillman will record his first win at Comerica Park. Nice heads-up play by shortstop J.J. Hardy to field Omar Infante's grounder and throw out Tuiasosopo at third base. May have saved the day. Nate McLouth has his first three-hit game since May 30. Update: McLouth stole his career-high 24th base in the seventh inning and he scored on Adam Jones' infield hit. Chris Davis followed with an RBI double and J.J. Hardy lifted a sacrifice fly to center field to increase the lead to 9-3. The Orioles have posted 10 or more hits in five of the last eight games and have recorded an American League-best 36 games with 10 or more hits. The last two starters, Zach Britton and Tillman, have gone 5 1/3 and five innings, respectively, but the Orioles won Tuesday night and lead today.
