Tillman vs. Walker tonight in Seattle

SAN DIEGO - The Orioles are in Seattle to remind the Mariners that they traded away Chris Tillman and Adam Jones.

There's also a four-game series to play.

Tillman gets the start tonight, with a chance to earn his 11th win in 12 decisions and perhaps influence the pitching staff for the upcoming All-Star Game.

His last outing didn't go as well as most. He allowed six runs and 10 hits in five innings against the Rays, but it was a minor glitch in an otherwise impressive campaign.

Tillman is 7-0 with a 2.96 ERA in nine career starts against the Mariners, who selected him in the second round of the 2006 First-Year Player Draft out of Fountain Valley (Cal.) High School before trading him to the Orioles on Feb. 8, 2008 in a package that brought them left-hander Erik Bedard.

It also included Jones and pitchers George Sherrill, Kam Mickolio and Tony Butler. Sherrill was an All-Star closer in 2008. Mickolio was useful in spurts and netted Mark Reynolds in a trade with the Diamondbacks. Butler couldn't stay healthy.

Bedard went 15-14 with a 3.31 ERA in 46 starts with the Mariners over three seasons. He pitched for four other teams, going combined 11-26 with the Pirates and Astros, posted a 5.02 ERA in three starts with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga in 2015 and is now a motivational speaker.

I kid. I have no idea what he's doing now, but it isn't granting interviews.

Tillman is 2-0 with a 3.24 ERA in three starts at Safeco Field, with six earned runs and 13 hits allowed in 16 2/3 innings.

Adam Lind is 10-for-36 against Tillman. Robinson Cano is 14-for-34 with a double, two home runs and eight RBIs and former Oriole Nelson Cruz is 3-for-14 with a double, two home runs and eight strikeouts.

Former Orioles catcher Steve Clevenger took a foul tip off his right hand yesterday, fracturing a finger, and will go on the disabled list.

The Orioles are facing Taijuan Walker, who missed his last start due to tendinitis in the arch of his right foot. He started on May 18 at Camden Yards and allowed three earned runs (four total) in five innings in a 5-2 loss. Mark Trumbo and Matt Wieters homered off him.

Walker owns a 5.52 ERA and 1.636 WHIP in three career starts against the Orioles spanning 14 2/3 innings. Wieters is 3-for-4 with a double and home run.

Jones is 1-for-9 against Walker. He's a career .270/.304/.410 hitter against the Mariners, with 19 doubles, five home runs and 31 RBIs in 64 games. He has 13 doubles, six home runs and 21 RBIs in 200 at-bats at Safeco Field.
