Time for predictions

Now it's that time. The time for your predictions for the 2014 season. Here are mine for the American League East this year: Tampa Bay 94-68 Orioles 91-71 Boston 88-74 New York 82-80 Toronto 78-84 Last season the AL East had four teams winning 85 games or more as the Orioles and Yankees tied for third at 85-77. No other division could claim that and the other two AL divisions have five combined teams that won 85 or more. The Orioles' offense looks solid and the defense will be very good and, at times, great again. It comes down to the pitching. The addition of Ubaldo Jimenez added some beef to a rotation that could use it. We'll see how the bullpen fares with Tommy Hunter as the closer. Meanwhile, the online sportsbook Bovada has posted its latest odds on the teams to win the AL East: * Boston Red Sox - 11/5 * Tampa Bay Rays - 11/5 * New York Yankees - 12/5 * Baltimore Orioles - 7/1 * Toronto Blue Jays - 7/1 The Orioles are listed at 16/1 to win the American League pennant and 33/1 to win the 2014 World Series. Here are their World Series odds: * Los Angeles Dodgers - 13/2 * St. Louis Cardinals - 15/2 * Detroit Tigers - 9/1 * Washington Nationals - 10/1 * Boston Red Sox - 12/1 * Tampa Bay Rays - 12/1 * New York Yankees - 14/1 * Atlanta Braves - 16/1 * San Francisco Giants - 16/1 * Texas Rangers - 16/1 * Los Angeles Angels - 20/1 * Oakland Athletics - 20/1 * Cincinnati Reds - 25/1 * Toronto Blue Jays - 25/1 * Pittsburgh Pirates - 28/1 * Baltimore Orioles - 33/1 * Kansas City Royals - 33/1 * Philadelphia Phillies - 33/1 * Seattle Mariners - 33/1 * Cleveland Indians - 40/1 * Arizona Diamondbacks - 50/1 * San Diego Padres - 50/1 * Chicago White Sox - 66/1 * Milwaukee Brewers - 66/1 * Chicago Cubs - 75/1 * Colorado Rockies - 75/1 * New York Mets - 75/1 * Miami Marlins - 100/1 * Minnesota Twins - 100/1 * Houston Astros - 250/1 If the Orioles do play a game in Norfolk today, I'll be there to report on it. Check here for news and updates throughout the day. If you are driving on 95 south or 64 east later today, make some room for me. But in this entry I want to read your predictions. Make them about the division, your World Series teams or your favorite players and the stats they may post this year. Which O's will have good years and which players will not? What are the biggest Orioles questions heading into the new season? Leave your thoughts here today and we'll look back after the season and check on how we did.
