Tonight's live blog: O's face old nemesis tonight

Tonight's live blog: Time to get started with tonight's live blog for Game 2 of the American League Division Series between the Orioles and Yankees. The Birds need a win to even the series after losing 7-2 last night. I hope many readers will post many questions and comments in here tonight. Keep 'em coming. Often. I mean it. Tonight the O's face their old friend Andy Pettitte. Since some of you feel we jinx the players when we post positive stats about them (even though that is our job, after all) here is the reverse for you. How about some numbers on Pettitte against the Orioles. * He is 27-6 with a 3.52 ERA over 42 games and 40 career starts. * He is 7-0 with a 2.87 ERA over his last 10 starts vs. the O's. * In his last four Camden Yards starts, he is 3-0 with an ERA of 1.30. * He has taken just two losses over his last 22 games against the Orioles since Sept. 10, 2002, going 15-2 with a 2.95 ERA over that stretch. How tonight's O's lineup fares vs. Pettitte: Nate McLouth: 0-for-3 (.000) J.J. Hardy: 1-for-17 (.059) Chris Davis: 2-for-7 (.286) Adam Jones: 6-for-17 (.353) Matt Wieters: 2-for-10 (.200) Mark Reynolds: 2-for-6 (.333) Jim Thome: 10-for-38 (.263) with two homers and six RBIs Manny Machado: 0-for-0 Robert Andino: 0-for-3 (.000) So what is your take?: How will the Orioles do tonight? How will they bounce back after such a tough loss? What is the key for the Birds to get their offense going again? Another delayed start: Yep, two days in a row, the game will not start on time. Tonight's first pitch had been scheduled for 8:07. Here is the message right now on the Camden Yards video board: The National Weather Service shows showers in the vicinity and the start of tonight's game will be delayed. We will provide an update as soon possible. We thank you for your patience. So keep those comments and questions coming while we wait it out. Well that's a relief: Did you see this "story." Jeffrey Maier said he will not be at any O's-Yankees games in New York. Who cares? Wasn't his 15 minutes of fame up about 15 years ago. Stop interviewing him! New start time: It was just announced to the fans and reporters here that tonight's game will start at 8:45. The Ichiro play at home: Here is the rule that I believe applies from the baseball rule book on the Ichiro Suzuki play at home. Rule 7.08A: Any runner is out when he runs more than three feet away from his base path to avoid being tagged unless his action is to avoid interference with a fielder fielding a batted ball. A runner's base path is established when the tag attempt occurs and is a straight line from the runner to the base he is attempting to reach safely. Even reading the rule, I am not sure which way that should have been called or if the umpire could have ruled Ichiro out of the base line there. Weighing in on Wei-Yin Chen: He's pitched a good ballgame through six innings tonight as the O's cling to a 2-1 edge. He stranded two Yankees runners in the third and got out of a bases-loaded, one-out jam in the fourth. He's been teetering a few times, but has made some big, clutch pitches. The only run that scored against him was unearned where Ichiro avoided Wieters' tag in the first. He is at 96 pitches through six.
