Turner delivers homer to ignite offense (Marlins win 7-5 in 10)

The Marlins tallied first with a solo homer by Derek Dietrich off of Nationals starter Jefry Rodriguez to lead off the second. It was Dietrich's 15th homer of the season, and came on a 1-0 pitch.

Rodriguez helped his own cause in the bottom of the third with a one-out single off of Marlins starter Wei-Yin Chen. Trea Turner followed with a two-run shot, his 15th of the season, on a 1-1 offering,

Update: The Marlins tied the game in the fifth. Austin Dean led off with a walk. J.T. Riddle followed with a double. Dean scored all the way from first base.

Turner now has 15 homers and 30 stolen bases on the season. According to Nats media relations, he becomes the first shortstop since the Phillies' Jimmy Rollins in 2012 (23 homers, 30 stolen bases) to hit at least 15 homers and steal at least 30 bases in a season. Turner is the 10th shortstop in major league history to accomplish the feat. It has happened only 21 times.

Mid-fifth, the Nats and the Marlins are tied 2-2.

Update II: Rodriguez allowed a pair of singles to begin the sixth. Tim Collins struck out Dietrich on a foul tip. Against Jimmy Cordero, Starlin Castro reached on a fielder's choice. The grounder to Daniel Murphy was bobbled and all runners were safe. With the bases loaded, Dean struck out. Riddle then laced a single over Murphy's outstretched glove in right field to score two runs.

Rodriguez pitched five innings plus two batters, allowing four runs (two earned) on five hits with three walks and three strikeouts. He threw 77 pitches, 46 for strikes.

Mid-sixth, the Marlins lead the Nats 4-2.

Update III: Murphy weaved an 11-pitch at-bat into a single against the hard-throwing Tayron Guerrero to begin the seventh. Pnch-hitter Adam Eaton singled. Pinch-hitter Matt Wieters was hit by a pitch to load the bases. A Guerrero wild pitch scored Murphy. Turner added an RBI single. Facing Adam Conley, Juan Soto grounded into a 4-6-3 double play to end the threat.

After seven innings, the Nats and the Marlins are tied 4-4.

Update IV: In the ninth, Riddle, having an unforgettable night, crushed a Justin Miller pitch into the second deck in right field to give Miami the lead.

Mid-ninth, the Marlins lead 5-4.

Update V: Against Drew Steckenrider, Eaton smacked a solo shot over the right-center field wall to tie the game in the bottom of the ninth.

Update VI: Facing Koda Glover in the 10th, Isaac Galloway delivered a two-run single with two outs. The Nats went quietly in the bottom of the frame against Brett Graves.
