Turner ignites offense with longball (Nats win 6-5 on walk-off)

The Mets' Pete Alonso continued his red-hot start to the season with a RBI double off of left-hander Patrick Corbin in the top of the third. The base hit was his sixth in three games. He also has three RBIs.

Turner-Swings-White-Sidebar.jpgThe Nationals connected off of right-hander Zack Wheeler in the bottom of third. Victor Robles doubled and Adam Eaton singled to begin the rally.

Trea Turner then delivered a no-doubt line drive deep over the left field wall for a three-run shot. It was his first homer of the season and this is the Nats' first lead of the season.

After three innings, the Nats lead the Mets 3-1.

Update: The Nats added a run in the fifth. Eaton singled with one out. Turner's fielder's choice wiped away Eaton. Turner stole second base for his fourth swipe of the season and Anthony Rendon singled to score Turner.

After five innings, the Nats lead the Mets 4-1.

Update II: The Mets scored a run in the sixth. J.D. Davis doubled and Michael Conforto singled. Davis scored on a 4-6-3 double play from Amed Rosario.

In the bottom of the sixth, Yan Gomes doubled and then Robles added an RBI double.

Corbin finished six innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with two walks and four strikeouts. He threw 94 pitches, 55 for strikes.

After six innings, the Nats lead the Mets 5-2.

Update III: The Mets came back to tie the game in the eighth with three runs on five hits. Tony Sipp allowed two singles, Trevor Rosenthal surrendered an RBI single on one pitch and Sean Doolittle gave up a pair of run-scoring singles. The Mets have combined to score eight runs on 11 hits in the series in the eighth inning.

Mid-eighth, the Nats and the Mets even at 5-5.

Update IV: Turner hit a line drive walk-off solo shot to left field in bottom of the ninth off of Justin Wilson. It's his second homer of the season, the second walk-off of his career and fourth multi-homer game of his career. His last walk-off came on Sept. 9, 2016. It's the first win of the season for the Nats.

Final score: Nats 6, Mets 5.
