Two in a row: O's post narrow win over Twins

The Orioles didn't get any runs after the third inning tonight, but they got just enough by then to win and they've now posted back-to-back victories after an eight-game losing streak. Matt Wieters hit a two-run homer and Zach Britton picked up his third win as the Orioles edged Minnesota, 5-4, to improve to 8-9 on the year. It was just the second one-run game the Orioles have played this season and their first win. Kevin Gregg, who had allowed three runs in his last two games, picked up his second save with a 1-2-3 ninth. Adam Jones caught a Denard Span drive near the wall in right-center for the game's last out. The Orioles scored four times in the bottom of the second to lead 4-1 on Jones' two-run double to right and Wieters' two-run homer. Vladimir Guerrero hit his second homer in two games, a solo shot in the third for a 5-1 lead. Britton pitched out of some jams early on and gave up three runs and five hits over six innings and is now 3-1 with an ERA of 3.16. Michael Cuddyer hit a solo homer off Britton in the second and Danny Valencia delivered a two-run single in the sixth. Wieters is now 5-for-12 with two homers and seven RBIs over his past four games after going through a 2-for-23 slump. Brian Roberts went 1-for-4 to extend his batting streak to eight games and he's hitting .361 during that streak. Robert Andino, who entered with seven hits over his past nine at-bats, went hitless in three at-bats tonight. In the series finale Thursday night, Jeremy Guthrie pitches for the Orioles against Twins righty Scott Baker.
