Tyler Moore called up to Nationals (updated)

In has been a rough couple of days on the field, but the Nationals are not resting on their laurels. With injuries to key personnel continuing to mount, general manager Mike Rizzo has made another move to shore up an offense that is averaging just three runs per game. When third baseman Ryan Zimmerman went on the disabled list with a shoulder injury, Rizzo called up phenom Bryce Harper. Now it appears the Nationals are ready to make another big move. According to this tweet from the Mississippi State Radio Network's Bart Gregory, Triple-A Syracuse first baseman Tyler Moore has been called up to the Nationals. Moore appears to confirm the move on his Twitter account. According to multiple published reports, the Nationals will place utility man Mark DeRosa on the disabled list to accommodate Moore's arrival on the 25-man roster. At Triple-A Syracuse, Moore is hitting .286 with seven homers and 20 RBIs in 22 games. His slugging percentage is .597 and his OPS has reached .961. With the Nationals losing three games in a row, all with quality starting pitching performances, one has to think with a little more offense they could have won all three. Moore has hit 69 home runs in two-plus seasons in the organization. Now the former Mississippi State star will now see if that power will translate on baseball's biggest stage. Update: Still awaiting a press release from the Nationals, but the move appears official. Moore is in, DeRosa heads to the DL. Update: According to a team-issued press release, the move is official. DeRosa's injury is a left oblique strain.
