Updates on Detwiler, Werth, Ramos and Mattheus

Manager Davey Johnson said he will make a decision on the status of left-hander Ross Detwiler for Tuesday's start depending on how his bullpen session goes on Saturday. Johnson said Detwiler, who missed his last start with a slight oblique strain, was a little tight but was all right following his most recent throwing session. "I think the big time is how he does in his pen tomorrow," Johnson said. "Everything so far has gone according to plan. He threw yesterday and didn't have any pain. He was a little tight in that area. He threw fine and came through it all right." Jayson Werth is expected to be out at least another 10 days. Johnson said Werth told him he felt his hamstring grab coming out of the batter's box during his rehab assignment last week at high Single-A Potomac. "I had a chat with him and he said he was feeling great," Johnson said. "He told me, 'I was running in the outfield, I was making turns at second base, I was running 100 percent. The first step out of the box after I hit a ball it grabbed me.' (Werth) said he (thinks) if, 'I'd taken it easy for three days I would have been by it.' The doctor said it would be two weeks, he told me that four days ago." Ryan Mattheus is expected to miss two months his the broken hand, according to Johnson. "No need for any pins (to set his hand), that is the latest I got," Johnson said. No timetable is set yet for catcher the return of catcher Wilson Ramos. Johnson said Ramos, "feels pretty good and he is working on it," and the doctors have given him the "latest and the greatest" treatment to get him back. "He was feeling pretty positive about it, but it will probably be longer than 15 days on the DL," Johnson said.
