Updates on Glover, Drew, Kelley and Wieters

BALTIMORE - Nationals reliever Koda Glover will begin his rehab assignment tomorrow for Double-A Harrisburg. The Senators host Erie tomorrow morning and then go on the road to Trenton.

"Yes, he's so happy to go," manager Dusty Baker said. "He said he will see us next week or before that."

Glover has been on the disabled list since April 26 with a left hip impingement. On Monday afternoon, he came through the clubhouse screaming in exhilaration after his strength and core workout in the gym.

Baker also had positive news on the progress of infielder Stephen Drew, who has been on the DL since April 12 with a right hamstring strain, and reliever Shawn Kelley, out with a lower back strain since May 2.

And then Drew is hopefully ready to go out and play maybe. We miss Drew big time. It be nice to get those guys back. I told Drew last night, 'Man, I sure do miss you.' Because he plays all four infield positions and plays them well and he's another big bat off the bench when he's not playing."

Baker would not reveal the level and the duration of Drew's rehab assignment.

"He's been out a long time," Baker said of Drew. "His timing has to be off some. We got to see how he responds to back-to-back days. He'll definitely go on an assignment."

Catcher Matt Wieters has played in 25 games to begin this season, and is starting again tonight. Jose Lobaton has played in nine games. Baker said he plans out the days off for Wieters based on his discussions with the veteran catcher.

"Well, we sort of talk about it. And we plan it sometimes days in advance," Baker said. "We do have to keep an eye on it because he had a couple of ailments in spring training and a couple of things he came over here with. If you've caught that long and that many games, then there's a good chance you are a little banged up and the wintertime is not enough time to heal everything.

"We talk about it in advance. I let Loby know in advance who's going to be catching. We got it mapped out pretty good."
