Double-A Bowie second baseman Greg Miclat, who leads all Orioles minor leaguers with 50 stolen bases (and has been caught just three times all year), is expected to miss the next 10 days with a left thumb injury.
If Bowie doesn't make the playoffs, Miclat would miss the rest of the season, but if the Baysox do make the Eastern League playoffs, he could still possibly play some this year. Bowie would probably have to win its first-round series for Miclat to make it back however.
The Orioles' fifth-round pick in 2008 out of the University of Virginia, Miclat recently suffered the injury when he jammed the thumb into a base. He has not played since last Friday.
In 120 Baysox games, Miclat is batting .280 with two homers and 24 RBIs. He was batting .341 in 24 games in August.
Buck Britton is starting at second base tonight as Bowie hosts Altoona. The Baysox have eight regular-season games remaining and begin play tonight leading third place Richmond by a game a and half for a playoff berth.
