Updating here and there (Bergy done)

I just found out that I'm on the clock, so I better hurry and file an entry. I hope you consider this blog a need pick. Brad Bergesen has held the Red Sox to two runs over five innings, both RBIs coming from Adrian Gonzalez. He's allowed four hits, walked one and struck out three. Bergesen has retired seven in a row. He's thrown 68 pitches, 45 for strikes. Before tonight, Bergesen was 0-3 with a 5.40 ERA and had allowed 10 earned runs (13 total) and 19 hits in 14 2/3 innings. Jon Lester has permitted only one run and two hits in four innings, but he's walked three and thrown only 31 of his 59 pitches for strikes. He's more vulnerable than we've seen in previous starts against the Orioles, which probably sounds funny when the guy's allowed only one run and two hits. Update: Big turnaround here. Boston put runners on second and third with no outs in the sixth and didn't score. Bergesen struck out Kevin Youkilis and David Ortiz, walked J.D. Drew intentionally and retired Jarrod Saltalamacchia on a long fly ball to center field, with Adam Jones making a leaping catch on the track. Vladimir Guerrero homered with two outs in the bottom of the sixth, his fourth this season, to tie the game. Bergesen warmed up before the top of the seventh, but Jim Johnson replaced him. He allowed two runs and six hits, walked two and struck out five. He threw 92 pitches, 60 for strikes. His best start among his four. Tonight's attendance: 21,209 Down on the farm, Brandon Snyder hit his fifth home run tonight for Triple-A Norfolk. He's batting .293 with 13 RBIs. Nolan Reimold has a two-run double. Double-A Bowie lost to Akron, 2-1, in the first game of a doubleheader. First baseman Robbie Widlansky had two of the Baysox's four hits and drove in their only run. He's batting .328.
