ST. PETERSBURG, Fla - Chris Tillman will throw a light bullpen session on Friday and make Sunday's start against the Tigers at Comerica Park.
Reliever Darren O'Day also will throw another bullpen session on Friday, take off a few days and pitch in a simulated game. He's expected to come off the disabled list next week.
Obviously, their sessions today were successful.
O'Day threw 26 pitches and said it "went good."
"Felt good, no pain, so that's good," he said. "It's the best it felt since I got hurt, so that's encouraging."
Ubaldo Jimenez will start Saturday in Detroit after Kevin Gausman takes the mound the previous night. Left-hander Wade Miley is expected to start Monday night in Boston.
Jimenez stays on normal rest by making the Saturday start.
Manager Buck Showalter said no one is coming out of the rotation at this time, which leaves him with six starters. But he's going game by game and checking matchups.
Chris Davis had his left hand X-rayed and is getting a few days off as a precaution. The Orioles don't play Thursday and Showalter wants to take advantage of the extended rest period.
Left-hander Jayson Aquino will come off the roster following today's game and report to the Ed Smith Stadium complex in Sarasota for workouts. The Orioles basically have replaced Aquino with left-hander Brian Duensing.
Pitching coach Dave Wallace has returned home and will meet up with the Orioles in Boston. Dom Chiti is in the dugout today and director of player development Brian Graham is in the bullpen.
