Urías on his return to active roster and Mountcastle ready for his bobblehead giveaway

Orioles infielder Ramón Urías has been out since a game May 8 against Tampa Bay, on the 10-day injured list with a left hamstring strain.

But he rejoined the active roster today after playing a couple of rehab games this week with High-A Aberdeen. He said he has passed every medical test and is ready to go.

“Very excited,” Urías said this afternoon in the Baltimore clubhouse. “It was a long two weeks, but the team is living a great moment and happy to join it. Glad we caught this in time and it wasn’t any worse.”

The best thing about his rehab games, he said, was just being healthy again.

“Was good to not be feeling any leg pain,” said Urías.

He went 1-for-6 for Aberdeen with a run scored, three walks and three strikeouts playing the last two nights.

Urías was off to a good start for the Orioles before his injury. Through 30 games he was batting .278/.375/.381/.756 with seven doubles, a homer and 16 RBIs. His OPS+ of 114 is better than his numbers for the last two years.

While he was out, he watched the Orioles take on the most challenging portion of their schedule so far and keep winning.

“It was a joy watching them. Everybody is just doing a great job right now, and happy to be part of the team again and ready to contribute,” he said.

He also got a brief look at the Jackson Holliday show in Aberdeen and watched the 19-year-old shortstop continue his big season for the IronBirds.

“He’s nasty. Hard to believe he’s only 19 years old," Urías said. "He’s pretty good and raking right now.”

Ryan Mountcastle today checked in with some thoughts on the 5-1 road trip, which included the sweep in Toronto and a series win at Yankee Stadium.

“Great road trip. Taking five out of six from two really good teams was a lot of fun," he said. "Hopefully we keep it going it this series too. It seems like the Texas offense is really clicking right now. They’ve got a good pitching staff and it’s going to be a good battle."

Tonight he and the Orioles will take the field for the first time this year wearing the team's new City Connect uniforms.

“I’m excited. They look pretty cool. Will be fun wearing them," said Mountcastle.

And a big weekend at the Yard continues here tomorrow as the Orioles are having a bobblehead giveaway featuring him on Saturday. The first 20,000 fans 15 and older who come to the 4:05 p.m. game against Texas will receive a Ryan Mountcastle bobblehead, presented by MASN.

Mountcastle may need to pick up a few extra for family and friends.

“My parents are asking for a million," he said. "Just going to try and get as many as I can and give them all out.”

Right-hander Grayson Rodriguez (2-1, 6.21 ERA) faces right-hander Jon Gray (4-1, 3.02 ERA) tonight in the homestand and series opener. 

Both clubs are playing good baseball, with the Orioles holding the second-best record in the majors at 33-17 and Texas the third-best at 31-18. The Rangers are 10-2-1 in their past 13 series, while the Orioles are 11-1-1 in their last 13.
