Valencia and Teagarden in Orioles' lineup

Orioles manager Buck Showalter chose Danny Valencia over Henry Urrutia as his designated hitter for tonight's game against the Royals. Urrutia had three hits last night, but Valencia is 11-for-20 with seven RBIs lifetime against Royals left-hander Bruce Chen. Taylor Teagarden is behind the plate tonight. Matt Wieters will sit despite being 9-for-21 with two doubles, a home run, two RBIs, two walks and five runs scored during a five-game hitting streak. The Orioles are playing the fifth of nine straight night games. Showalter must have chosen tonight to rest Wieters. The Orioles are 40-20 when their starters go six or more innings. The Orioles, along with the Orioles Wives, Oriole Advocates, WJZ-TV and MASN personalities, Von Paris Moving and Storage and the Maryland Food Bank, will hold their 27th annual Food and Funds Drive during the three-game series against the Red Sox this weekend at Camden Yards. Non-perishable food items and monetary donations from fans will be collected at each ballpark entrance from the time gates open until the middle of the second inning during each game. All food and funds collected go to the Maryland Food Bank. Von Paris Moving and Storage will pick up and deliver all items donated. Fans who cannot attend the games can donate food online at www.mdfoodbank.org/orioles. During last year's Orioles Food Drive, more than 4,000 pounds of food and $20,000 in cash donations were collected. For more information, call 888-848-BIRD or visit www.oriolesreach.com.
