The Arizona Fall League announced rosters for the offseason league where top prospects play games in October and November. The Nationals have six prospects who have been invited to play for the Glendale Desert Dogs.
Right-handed pitchers Austin Voth and Ryan Brinley will join left-hander Nick Lee on the team. The Nationals appear to have one more pitching slot available to be named at a later date. The spot could be offered to right-hander Erick Fedde.
Infielders Osvaldo Abreu and Drew Ward also will play for the Desert Dogs. Center fielder Andrew Stevenson, who made a big jump this season to Double-A Harrisburg also has been named to the team.
Players from the Chicago White Sox, Los Angeles Dodgers, St. Louis Cardinals and Houston Astros will fill out the Glendale roster. Their home games will be played at Camelback Ranch.
Low Single-A Hagerstown's Sam Narron will be one of the three pitching coaches invited. Trainer T.D. Swinford from the Nationals organization will train the club alongside the Dodgers' Kevin Orloski.
So far, all of the Nationals entries are full-time members and not taxi squad guys. Taxi squad players are only eligible to play Wednesdays and Saturdays. Ward was a taxi squad player last season.
