Trey Mancini is playing first base tonight and Chris Davis seems to be headed for the disabled list after suffering a strained right oblique last night in Chicago.
Davis underwent an MRI this morning.
David Washington was scratched from Triple-A Norfolk's lineup and is joining the Orioles, as first reported by The Virginian-Pilot. Washington can play first base and serve as a left-handed designated hitter, and he also has experience in the outfield.
Washington has never played in the majors. He's batting .291/.344/.517 with 16 doubles, 10 home runs and 26 RBIs in 56 games for the Tides. He's 15-for-37 (.405) in June.
Washington has posted a .327 average this season against right-handers.
Pitcher Edwin Jackson has elected free agency after clearing waivers, according to an industry source.
The Orioles designated Jackson for assignment on Saturday after he allowed seven runs (four earned) and 11 hits in five innings over three appearances. Jackson said he was returning to Baltimore for a few days and waiting for the situation to play out.
