Webb on the loss, plus Norris and Joseph comments

There were 12 pitchers used between the two teams tonight but Ryan Webb certainly was disappointed to be the only one that was scored on. He gave up an RBI single to Albert Pujols in the top of the 13th inning of the Angels' 1-0 win over the Orioles. "You never want to be the one to give it up," Webb said. "A game like that, 12 or 13 innings without giving up a run. It (stinks). You can't walk the leadoff guy, especially with those guys coming up. I went out and did it in four pitches. That is what happens sometimes when you do that. "You can't do that. That will put you in a rough spot. You are working backwards after that. Don't walk the leadoff guy." Webb had pitched a scoreless 12th but gave up a walk and two singles to start the 13th. "We've been playing good baseball. We've been playing good ball against them and they are a really good team," he said. "That is a positive to build off. It's a frustrating loss but we've been playing well and we played well today." The only Oriole to have two hits tonight was Caleb Joseph, who went 2-for-3. The O's catcher talked about the O's taking two-of-three twice in the last eight days against the Angels. "They're a good team. We would love to sweep and we gave ourselves a chance," Joseph said. "They are probably going to be playing meaningful games late in the year and hopefully we are too. It was a good series for us to come back and start the homestand taking two-of-three. But wish it would have been a sweep." Bud Norris had some shaky moments early on. But he stranded two runners in the second and got out of a bases-loaded jam in the third, pitching seven scoreless tonight. "I didn't have my best stuff, but going to go out there and compete," Norris said. "To keep my team in it was great. Tough loss tonight but we had a great series against them and we have more work to do on this homestand. "You have to make pitches. You are not going to have everything every night," Norris said. "It goes to the kid behind the plate tonight. Caleb was great and helped me out. Manny (Machado) was outstanding on defense and (Steve) Pearce made a big play too. "They have a great club over there and we have a great club over here. They are two quality, playoff contending teams. That says volumes about where we are in this part of the season. If we match up in the postseason, we'll feel comfortable about the way we played them there and here." Against the Angels, Norris is 4-0 with an ERA of 0.43 in six career starts, all quality starts. He can think back to exactly one year ago when he was the subject of trade rumors and then switching clubhouses at Camden Yards, going from Houston to the Orioles. "This is what I've dreamed about my entire life, to be in a pennant race. To know that my name wasn't swirling around was kind of a good feeling," Norris said. "This is where I want to be. I want to be pitching in the playoffs for this team. Couldn't be in a better situation."
