Werth and Tracy deliver in rehab game; Souza monster home run to win; Wang struggles a bit for Sens

Nationals rehabbers Jayson Werth (left wrist) and Chad Tracy (right adductor) delivered for Triple-A Syracuse on Saturday. Werth went 2-for-4 with three RBIs, and Tracy went 3-for-4 with an RBI as the Chiefs outlasted Lehigh Valley, 6-4. Werth had a RBI double in the fifth and a two-run single in the seventh. Manager Davey Johnson had said pregame that it looked like Tracy could be the first activated for Tuesday when the Nationals return from Milwaukee to play Philadelphia. But, it is a good sign to see Werth making good contact and hitting deep into games. Potomac Nationals outfielder Steven Souza, Jr., crushed a two-run shot in the ninth inning to help defeat Frederick, 3-1. Souza blasted the fastball up after striking out four times earlier in the game. It was Souza's first homer with Potomac and his 18th overall this season. Recently demoted right-hander Robert Gilliam made his first start for Potomac and was impressive. Gilliam allowed a first inning run but then shut down the Keys. Gilliam went 5 1/3 innings, allowing five hits and struck out five. Chien-Ming Wang's outing for Double-A Harrisburg was not as clean as his previous start with the Senators. Wang (right hip) allowed nine hits, four runs and two homers, but still induced 10 groundouts, in the loss. Despite the two homers, a majority of his sinker pitches were very good.
